June 17, 2026 marks the 32nd World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought. This year's international theme is "Rangelands: Recognise, Respect, Restore," with China's national theme calling for "Everyone Participates in Sand Control, Generations Share the Green."

WWF research shows over one million species are facing extinction, while UNCCD data reveals that nearly half of the Earth's land ecosystems are already degraded, affecting the survival and development of roughly half the global population. Climate change intensification, biodiversity loss, and land degradation are not just environmental issues—they are systemic challenges that threaten food security, water security, and humanity's shared future.

Combating desertification is not only the responsibility of governments and conservation organizations—it also demands innovative contributions from businesses. The continued expansion of business activities should not come at the expense of nature—this is the core concern of the "Nature Positive" approach.

The 2026 "GoldenKey —SDG Solutions" Nature Positive category seeks exactly these innovations—practices that shift business from "extracting nature" to "restoring nature." We focus on four key directions:

1. Eco-Friendly Practices and Systemic Restoration

— Synergistic pollution and carbon reduction, soil and water conservation, mine ecological restoration, etc.

2. Clean Energy and Degraded Land Synergistic Governance

— Photovoltaic desert control, solar panel power generation + under-panel farming/aquaculture, etc.

3. Nature-Based Solutions (NbS)

— Leveraging ecosystem services to address climate and ecological challenges in an integrated manner.

4. Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs)

— Transforming corporate-owned spaces into conservation strongholds.
